Life After HIgh School: Ronald Chen

Who: Ronald Chen

Year Graduated: I graduated in the class of 2012!

Where are you now?
Right now I am a sophomore attending Columbia University in City of New York.

What do you enjoy?
I enjoy swimming, sleeping, playing video games and eating.

What did you do in high school?
I actually didn’t do much in high school. I was captain of the swim team my senior year. I was also a TA for biotech my senior year. I played water polo whenever I wasn’t at swim practice.

What are you doing now?
I am in Miami for Columbia University Men’s Swimming and Diving’s annual training trip! I am also working on a neuroscience degree at Columbia.

What surprised you about life after high school?
Living away from home is a lot harder than I thought it would be. I was so excited to get away from Foster City, but now everyday I miss my family and the warm weather. Also being a student athlete is much harder in college than in high school.

Words of Wisdom for current Bearcats?
Be an individual. Don’t follow what everyone else is doing. Do what you want to do with your life. Don’t pick your major based on what your parents want, do it because you want to. The easiest classes are the classes you are most interested in.
